July 28, 2008 (Peabody, Mass.) -- JEOL USA will host a tutorial session at M&M 2008 in conjunction with Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and Protochips to introduce PRISM – Practical Remote In Situ Microscopy. The PRISM tutorial will be held on Monday, August 4, 2008 at the Microscopy & Microanalysis (M&M) Exhibit in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the JEOL booth #1027 at 5:30 p.m.

PRISM is a technique made possible by the remote operation capability of the JEOL TEM in combination with the new in situ heating holder made by Protochips. This new holder, being introduced at M&M, allows scientists to study and analyze materials in ways previously thought impossible. For the first time, researchers will be able to view catalytic reactions, biomass conversion and hydrogen storage materials that require high temperature, real-time & high resolution analysis.

The presenter for this first-of-its kind tutorial session, Dr. Larry Allard, Distinguished Research Staff Member in the Microscopy Group at ORNL, will demonstrate the capabilities of the Protochips “Aduro” heating holder on the JEOL JEM-2200FS Aberration-corrected TEM installed at ORNL in Tennessee using JEOL Sirius Remote Operation software from the JEOL booth.

To attend this special tutorial session, M&M show attendees can contact their JEOL representative or sign up in the JEOL booth prior to the event, or contact jeolink@jeol.com.
