SEM Navigator Camera
The SEM Navigator Camera is an externally-mounted 3 Megapixel CMOS camera with a high frequency variable light source (transmitted polarized illuminator available). It records an image of the sample on the SEM specimen holder secured in place on the camera base via matching dovetail holder. The image can be recorded at 3, 4. 5, and 6" selectable fields of view and sent to multiple SEMs and/or EPMA for point and shoot navigation. It works in conjunction with Image Navigator Software written specifically for JEOL microscopes.
The SEM Navigator benchtop camera records the sample image for the SEM or EPMA, allowing the microscopist to quickly pinpoint areas of interest for imaging at high magnifications or further analysis with EDS, CL, or backscatter imaging.

Image Navigator Software
Image Navigator Software is integral to the SEM and enables precise navigation to an area of interest when using a color image of the sample that has been recorded with any camera device. The sample stage automatically moves to the selected point on the image of the sample without the user having to manually search. The image can be taken with the SEM Navigator Camera, a CCD camera, optical microscope, digital camera, or cell phone, and is imported using dual point (P-Q) alignment.

An image of the sample can be recorded with any camera device and imported
into the SEM or EPMA for easy navigation to precise locations.
Stage Navigation System
JEOL's Stage Navigation System (standard on all JSM-6610 series SEMs and available on all 6X10 series, field emission SEMs, and select older models) allows fast navigation to precise areas of interest on the sample. The Stage Navigation System consists of a color CCD camera mounted on top of the SEM sample chamber and integrated with the SEM software. The Stage Navigation System is used to take a digital image of the sample then navigate to precise areas of the sample from the picture.

The recorded image of the sample (bottom middle of SEM GUI screen)
is used for navigation to precise areas of interest.
