Shinichi Watanabe

Shinichi Watanabe,
Chairman of the Board of Directors

Mr. Watanabe was appointed JEOL USA Chairman in April 2007. He most recently served as General Manager of JEOL’s Electron Optics Sales Division in Akishima, Japan and also as a Director at JEOL, Ltd. His work at the company’s headquarters focused on policy developments with major universities, industry, and the Japanese government, which helped to forge strong relationships for the company. Highlights of Mr. Watanabe’s more than 30 years at JEOL include meetings with the Minister of Finance in Japan and Nobel Prize winners from both industry and academia. Mr. Watanabe is a graduate of Aoyama Gakuin University. He has visited the U.S. many times and is now a first-time resident living in historical Salem, Massachusetts. He looks forward to pursuing new opportunities for JEOL USA, and building on the strength in scientific and industrial instruments sales and the reputation in technology and support that the global organization has enjoyed in the U.S. for more than 40 years.


Robert T. Santorelli

Robert T. Santorelli,
President and CEO, Member of the Board of Directors 

Mr. Santorelli has been influential in guiding the company’s evolution from a primary focus on the scientific research market to a far-reaching vision encompassing industry and the life sciences. He was appointed President and CEO in 2004. During his more than 30 years with JEOL, he has served as executive vice president, general manager, director of sales and marketing, and manager of sales administration. Mr. Santorelli received his technical education in aerospace electronics and photographic reconnaissance equipment through the U.S. Air Force, and his business education at Leslie College’s Program for Business and Industry, Suffolk University, and Newbury Jr. College (Boston). and the University of Maryland Far East Asian Division (Japan).


Hisao Wada

Hisao Wada,
Executive Vice President, Director of JEOL de Mexico, Member of the Board of Directors 

Mr. Wada joined JEOL in 1970. His responsibilities have spanned both production and field service for JEOL instruments and have taken him from Japan to North and South America. Initially he applied his electrical engineering background to final test and service of JEOL transmission electron microscopes. In 1979, he was appointed Regional Service Manager in San Francisco, California. In 1981, he returned to the JEOL factory to manage the TEM final test department. He became Director of the Service Division at JEOL USA in 1989 and was appointed to his present position in 2001. Mr. Wada established the JEOL Latin America operation and has managed the Mexico and South America operations for more than 10 years. As Senior Vice President and Director of Service, his responsibilities include communications between JEOL USA and the factory in Akishima, Japan.


Patrick McGinley

Patrick McGinley,
Vice President and General Manager, Service Division, Member of the Board of Directors

Since joining JEOL in 1976, Mr. McGinley has held both technical and service positions and managed numerous programs to enhance JEOL’s customer satisfaction. He established JEOL’s award-winning customer satisfaction program, expanded JEOL’s service capabilities to 24x7, instituted JEOL’s quality repair guarantee program, and managed development of JEOL’s service contract system and customized scheduling and call tracking system. He has held several management positions, including district, national, and international service manager (Mexico and Canada). Mr. McGinley holds a technical degree in electronic engineering from Lincoln Technical Institute in Pennsylvania.


Peter Genovese

Peter Genovese,
Vice President and General Manager, Sales and Marketing Division, Member of the Board of Directors

Mr. Genovese has been a member of the JEOL sales organization for more than 20 years, with responsibilities in sales administration, as New England regional salesman for electron optics, and as assistant sales manager prior to his current position. He received a B.S. in Economics from Boston College and an Executive M.B.A. from Suffolk University.


Robert Pohorenec

Robert Pohorenec
Vice President and General Manager, Operations Division, Member of the Board of Directors

Promoted in 2006 to the Board of Directors, Mr. Pohorenec is General Manager of Operations at JEOL USA. He oversees management of JEOL USA inventory, procurement, logistics, accounting, information technology and related operational functions as well as two engineering groups. He has held several positions at JEOL since joining the company in 1984 as a service engineer in the Dallas, Texas office. Throughout the 1990s and until recently, he held management positions in JEOL’s U.S. Products manufacturing division. He is a graduate of Northeastern University with a B.S. in Operations Technology, and received Electronic Engineering technical training at DeVry Institute.”


Charles Nielsen

Charles Nielsen,
Vice President SEM, EPMA, and Auger Instrumentation Product Director

Mr. Nielsen’s involvement with the SEM, EPMA, and Auger product cycle begins with working closely with JEOL in Japan to establish new instrument design specifications, and continues through to long-term customer support. He is a member of JEOL USA’s Board of Directors, manages the demonstration facilities at Peabody, MA and Pleasanton, CA, and is chairman of the safety and travel committees. In addition to these responsibilities, he is also a Director of the Microbeam Analysis Society. He received graduate degrees in Physics from Wake Forest University and Materials Science from Cornell University. Prior to joining JEOL, he was a research associate in the Marine Geology department at the University of Rhode Island.


Dr. J. Douglas Meinhart

Dr. J. Douglas Meinhart,
Vice President and Analytical Instruments Director

Dr. Meinhart is the Director of Analytical Instruments (NMR, Mass Spec and ESR) and is responsible for coordinating operations, managing the applications staff and participating in new product development. Prior to joining JEOL 15 years ago, Doug received his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Rochester in 1981, Ph.D. in Chemistry from the California Institute of Technology in 1987, and completed post-doctoral studies at the University of Chicago. He is also a member of the American Chemical Society.
