Direct Analysis in Real Time DART - A Powerful Problem-solving Tool

The AccuTOF-DART 4G allows you to immediately determine chemical composition and produce high-resolution, accurate mass spectra by simply placing a sample in its native form between the DART ion source and the AccuTOF mass spectrometer inlet. The DART source ionizes almost anything you put in front of it including solutions straight from your synthetic reaction pot, crude extracts, unknown pills or powders, polymers and adhesives, contamination on small parts, sticky liquids, vapors, TLC plates, and more. Many analyses can be carried out with little or no sample preparation.

The AccuTOF Advantage

The AccuTOF-DART is the perfect union of advanced time-of-flight mass spectrometer with the open air ion source that completely changed the field of mass spectrometry. Developed on the AccuTOF here at JEOL, the DART ion source is fully integrated with the mass spectrometer. No additional pumps, flanges, or interface hardware are required. This makes it possible to carry out unique ambient ionization experiments that are not practical on other mass spectrometers and produces clean, reproducible, easy-to-interpret data.

The third-generation AccuTOF-DART 4G system is an “ambient ionization toolbox” that allows the analyst to choose ionization methods that are best matched to the samples to be analyzed. The DART ion source can be operated on the AccuTOF-DART 4G in several different modes, plus a wide range of ambient ionization methods can be carried out without removing the DART ion source.

The Direct Analysis in Real Time (DART) ion source was developed on the JEOL AccuTOF mass spectrometer as the first ambient ion source and the AccuTOF-DART™ was introduced in 2005 as the first commercially available ambient ionization mass spectrometer.
