In this MSTips, we introduce the analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) inside a vehicle, which is one of the main applications of TD-GC-MS. TD-100xr (Markes International Ltd) and JMS-Q1600GC (JEOL) were used in the experiment. The analysis conditions were based on the international standards ISO 12219-1 and JASO Z125.

In this MSTips, we introduce the analysis of additives in polypropylene products as the application of TD-GC-MS to material analysis.

In this MSTips, we report the measurement result of Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS), an engineering plastic with excellent heat and chemical resistance. It is known that differences in the manufacturing process of PPS appear in the end groups, so structure analysis of the end groups is important. However, PPS is difficult to measure by LC-MS because it is insoluble in common solvents. Therefore, the end groups were estimated using FD, which can measure PPS oligomers even when they are dispersed in a solvent.

In this MSTips, we report the analysis results of a water-soluble polymer polyethyleneimine (PEI), which contains many amines in its structure, by using FD of JMS-T2000GC.

Several methods have been proposed to measure trace amounts of PAHs. Gas chromatography- triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (GC-Triple QMS) is commonly used for high sensitivity measurement methods for specific PAHs in complex matrices. Twenty kinds of PAHs shown in Table 1 (left) were measured using JMS-TQ4000GC (JEOL Ltd.) and those the results are reported in this application note.

The characteristics chemical compounds that differ between the two wines were identified by using the differential analysis functionality of msFineAnalysis AI.

In this application, we report on the verification of whether additive analysis in materials can be performed in the same way as conventional QMS using the single QMS mode, and also conducted analysis using msFineAnalysis iQ.
