Evaluation of Oblique Light-Induced Degradation of Indoor Line Tape by Mass Spectrometry (3): Differential Analysis of Migrated Components from Floor Surfaces Using TD–GC/MS

To date, compositional analyses of the individual layers constituting indoor line tapes—namely, the base, adhesive, and colored layers—have been conducted using direct EGA‑MS and DEP‑MS techniques. Particular focus on the colored layer revealed, through comparative analysis before and after application, the disappearance of Pigment Yellow 14, an organic pigment originally present as a colorant. This result suggests that the whitening phenomenon observed under oblique lighting after application may be attributed to the degradation or loss of this pigment.

Meanwhile, during the investigation of the oblique-light degradation phenomenon, evidence suggestive of component migration from floor surface materials was observed. To more comprehensively evaluate the oblique-light degradation characteristics of indoor line tapes, qualitative analysis of outgassed components was performed using thermal desorption–GC/MS. As a result, compounds presumed to originate from migration from the floor surface materials were detected. To ensure the validity of the evaluation results, these migrated components were assessed prior to the oblique-light degradation study, and the findings are presented below.
