GC nitrogen carrier gas solution: Comparing helium and nitrogen in GC-TOFMS exact mass analysis

In this work, we examine the effects of nitrogen carrier gas on the performance of our GC-TOFMS for high resolution, accurate mass analysis.

Improvement of Mass Spectrometry Imaging Capability in JMS-S3000

In the fall of 2019, SpiralTOF™ was renewed to "SpiralTOF™-plus" with enhanced mass spectrometry imaging capabilities while maintaining the feature of high mass-resolving power. This report introduces the features of SpiralTOF™-plus and its advantages in actual analysis.

Rapid analysis of phthalates for RoHs2 by Py-GC-MS

We have attempted a rapid analysis of Py-GC/MS method using JMS-Q1500GC by optimizing Py and GC oven conditions, and achieved a cycle time of 14.75 min per measurement. Here, we report the results.

Identification and distribution analysis of additives in a molded nitrile rubber (NBR) by PY/GCxGC/HRTOFMS

In this application note, we identified the additives and their distribution within a commercially available molded polymer by using GCxGC/HRTOFMS with pyrolysis (PY/GCxGC/HRTOFMS).

Evaluation of Oblique Light-Induced Degradation of Indoor Line Tape by Mass Spectrometry (2)

DEP (Direct Exposure Probe) is a technique in which a sample is directly applied to a platinum filament at the tip of the probe and rapidly heated by applying an electric current to the filament. This method enables rapid ionization while minimizing thermal decomposition of the sample, thus requiring little to no complex sample pretreatment and making it suitable for the analysis of nonvolatile substances or those prone to thermal decomposition. In this study, therefore, a direct introduction method using DEP was applied, and the results of rapid qualitative analysis of organic pigments contained in the pigmented layer of an indoor line tape are reported.

Evaluation of Oblique Light-Induced Degradation of Indoor Line Tape by Mass Spectrometry (1)

In this study, a case was examined in which indoor line tape used for approximately eight months exhibited a degradation phenomenon where the color of the pigmented layer disappeared due to the influence of oblique light. The objective was to evaluate this oblique light-induced degradation and to clarify its underlying causes. For the evaluation, qualitative analysis of the substrate layer and adhesive layer constituting the tape was first carried out using the direct EGA-MS (Evolved Gas Analysis–Mass Spectrometry) method. This technique enabled direct detection of thermally decomposed products from each constituent layer, allowing for characterization of the material composition.

Ion Exchange Resin Analysis by using Pyrolysis-GCxGC-MS

In this study, pyrolysis (Py)/GCxGC/HR-TOFMS system was applied to investigate the pyrolysis products of Vinylpyridine and Divinylbenzene copolymer as the ion exchange resin sample.

Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer Rubber Analysis by using Pyrolysis-GCxGC-MS

In this study, pyrolysis(Py)/GCxGC/HR-TOFMS system was applied to investigate the pyrolysis products of Ethylene-propylene–diene rubber (EPDM).

Analysis of a drug in urine by JMS-S3000

In this report, we analyzed methylephedrine, a phenethylamine compound, in common cold medicines as an application to the field of forensic chemistry.

Measurement examples of organic pigments using Laser Desorption/Ionization (LDI) and Field Desorption (FD)

In this work, commercially available organic pigments were analyzed using JMS-S3000 SpiralTOF™ and JMS-T200GC AccuTOF™ GCx-plus. Measurements were performed by matrix-free LDI (Laser Desorption Ionization) on the JMS-S3000 and by FD (Field Desorption) on the JMS-T200GC. Because good results were obtained with both methods, we report them here.
