Measurement examples of organic pigments using Laser Desorption/Ionization (LDI) and Field Desorption (FD)

In this work, commercially available organic pigments were analyzed using JMS-S3000 SpiralTOF™ and JMS-T200GC AccuTOF™ GCx-plus. Measurements were performed by matrix-free LDI (Laser Desorption Ionization) on the JMS-S3000 and by FD (Field Desorption) on the JMS-T200GC. Because good results were obtained with both methods, we report them here.

Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) combined with in-source decay (ISD) is a useful tool for doing top-down sequencing of intact proteins. In this work, we measured and compared the ISD fragment ions generated for several proteins using the high resolution MALDI- Spiral mode and the high sensitivity MALDI-Linear mode available on the JEOL SpiralTOF MALDI-MS system.

Analysis of cyanoacrylate adhesive using the JMS-S3000 “SpiralTOF™” — Application of Kendrick Mass Defect plot analysis

Recently, Kendrick mass defect (KMD) plot analysis has been proposed as an effective data processing technique for SpiralTOF™ which allows for the structural characterization of complicated compounds1, 2. Here, a commercial acrylic adhesive containing cyanoacrylate was characterized using a SpiralTOF™ combined with KMD plot analysis.
