Analysis of degraded polystyrene by UV irradiation using high-resolution MALDI-TOFMS and pyrolysis-GC-QMS

In this work, we used Py-GC-QMS and high-resolution MALDI-TOFMS to evaluate the effects of UV irradiation on polystyrene (PS).

Introduction of SRM compound data files to support SRM measurement method creation

When performing simultaneous analysis of pesticide residues in food, there are many items to be set for each compound, and creating new measurement conditions requires a lot of time. In this paper, SRM Compound Data File" and "SRM Optimization Tool" are introduced.

Evolved gas analysis from polystyrene in an oxygen atmosphere using a filament for low vacuum

JEOL has developed a filament for low-vacuum that utilizes a new wire with enhanced oxidation resistance to enable stable measurement by the EI method in an oxygen atmosphere. In this study, the gases evolved from polystyrene at various oxygen concentrations were measured by TG/DTA-MS using a filament for low-vacuum.

Analysis of polystyrene end group structure by thermal desorption/pyrolysis (TDP) DART-TOFMS

In this report, we verify that the end group analysis of polystyrene by TDP-DART-MS examined in Reference [1] is possible by the TDP device ionRocket (BioChromato) and AccuTOF™ LC-plus 4G.

GC nitrogen carrier gas solution: Comparing helium and nitrogen in GC-TOFMS exact mass analysis

In this work, we examine the effects of nitrogen carrier gas on the performance of our GC-TOFMS for high resolution, accurate mass analysis.

Improvement of Mass Spectrometry Imaging Capability in JMS-S3000

In the fall of 2019, SpiralTOF™ was renewed to "SpiralTOF™-plus" with enhanced mass spectrometry imaging capabilities while maintaining the feature of high mass-resolving power. This report introduces the features of SpiralTOF™-plus and its advantages in actual analysis.

Rapid analysis of phthalates for RoHs2 by Py-GC-MS

We have attempted a rapid analysis of Py-GC/MS method using JMS-Q1500GC by optimizing Py and GC oven conditions, and achieved a cycle time of 14.75 min per measurement. Here, we report the results.

Identification and distribution analysis of additives in a molded nitrile rubber (NBR) by PY/GCxGC/HRTOFMS

In this application note, we identified the additives and their distribution within a commercially available molded polymer by using GCxGC/HRTOFMS with pyrolysis (PY/GCxGC/HRTOFMS).

Rapid Analysis of a Peppermint Oil Sample by Low-Pressure Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry

Qualitative analysis by combined gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC-MS) generally relies on database searching for electron ionization (EI) mass spectra. However, the molecular ion may be weak or absent in EI mass spectra. Chemical ionization (CI) is a widely used soft ionization method that can often provide molecular weight information that is lacking in the EI mass spectra. JEOL msFineAnalysis iQ software makes use of the integrated information from both EI and soft ionization GC-MS data for confident qualitative analysis.

Checking the isotopic composition of a labeled peptide by using inlet ionization with the Ambient Ionization Toolbox™

The AccuTOF-DART Ambient Ionization Toolbox™ provides a variety of ambient ionization methods for rapid and convenient analysis of diverse compound types. Here, an isotopically labeled peptide was purchased from a vendor at a suspiciously low price. Inlet ionization with 3-nitrobenzonitrile matrix revealed that the sample did not contain the expected 13C and 15N labels. A separate sample of the isotopically labeled peptide from an alternate supplier showed the expected labeling.
